Surya Supreme Spices

At Surya Supreme Spices, we are based on Water Works Road, which is right near the Kali Mandir. You can often hear the bells from the temple while we are working, which is a nice background to the sound of our spice grinders. The area around Water Works is usually busy with people coming and going. We have a fairly simple operation here. We take the raw spices, clean them up, and then grind them into powders. My hands are almost always stained yellow because of the turmeric we process. It’s one of those things that just doesn't wash off easily. We have a couple of large machines that do most of the heavy work, but there is still a lot of manual sorting to do. The floor is often covered in a fine layer of spice dust. We don't have any fancy offices or polished showrooms. It’s just a workspace with a lot of bags and a few benches for us to sit on. When it rains, the sound on the roof is so loud we can barely hear each other talk. We just focus on getting the daily orders ready for the local shops that buy from us. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We’ve been at this location for a while now and everyone around here knows who we are and what we do.
