Jai Durga Spices

In the middle of the chaos that is Barabazar, you’ll find Jai Durga Spices. We are at 13-B, right on Digamber Jain Temple Road. It’s a narrow street, always crowded with people, handcarts, and the occasional stray animal. Our shop is small and packed to the ceiling with bags of spices. You can hear the bells from the temple nearby while we work. It’s a loud place, but there’s a rhythm to it that we’ve grown to love. We spend our mornings opening up the shutters and setting things out for the day. There isn't much space to move around, so you have to be careful where you step. We talk to people from all over who come to Barabazar to find what they need. We don't use any fancy machines; mostly, it's just us and our hands, weighing things out and tying up bags with bits of string. The walls are a bit stained from the dust and the years, but it’s home to us. Working here means you’re always part of a crowd. We don’t have time for corporate talk or big promises. We just sell spices to people who need them and try to make sure we’re ready for the next customer. It’s a busy, gritty kind of life, but it’s honest work in a part of the city that never really stops moving. We’ve been right here for a good long time now, through the heat and the rain.
