Areve Electronics operates from the first floor of 135A Chittranjan Avenue. Most people just call it CR Avenue. It’s one of the widest roads in Kolkata, but it is almost always jammed with traffic. Being on the first floor is quite convenient for us and our visitors because you don't have to rely on the lift, which can be a bit temperamental in these older buildings. Our space is used for managing the commodities and electronics side of the business. It is a functional office with several desks and a lot of filing cabinets. We aren't big on interior design. We have some basic chairs and good lighting so we can see what we are doing. The team here is small, and we all know each other’s families and stories. We spend our days tracking market prices and talking to suppliers. It is a lot of coordination and making sure the numbers add up at the end of the month. You can hear the trams screeching on the tracks outside if the window is open. We usually have the radio playing some local music in the background while we work. It’s an honest way to spend the day. We don’t have any grand slogans; we just show up and handle the business as it comes. It is a steady place to work and we appreciate being in such a central part of the city where everything is within reach.
