House number 319 in the village of Brithala is where we operate from. Shri Leelavilas Krishak Producer Company Limited is just the official name we use for our group. We are all krishaks, or farmers, who have lived in this area for as long as anyone can remember. We don’t have a big marketing budget or people in suits telling us what to do. It’s just us, deciding what to plant and when to harvest. Some days are long, and your back hurts from the moment you wake up. We talk about the basics like soil quality and how to get the harvest to the market before the rain starts. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know. We started this company to give ourselves a bit more power when it comes to buying supplies. Everything costs more every year, and it’s hard to keep up. By grouping together here in Brithala, we can manage a bit better. We don't have any grand missions, we just want to keep the farms running and make sure there is food on the table. It’s honest work, even if it is tiring and the pay isn't always what you’d hope for. We are just local people working the same ground our fathers did. It’s as simple as that.
