Holistic Himalaya Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based in the village of Bhatoli, up near the Bhandal post office. It is a beautiful part of the Himalayas, but as anyone who lives here will tell you, the terrain makes farming a real chore sometimes. We started this farmer producer company because we wanted to find better ways to handle our mountain crops. Whether it is herbs, fruits, or local grains, we try to work together to get them to the market in good shape. Our office is usually just a room in the village where we keep our records and meet up to talk. It is very informal. We talk about the weather a lot because it dictates everything we do up here. Snow and heavy rains can cut off the roads, so we have to plan ahead and store things properly. We aren't interested in sounding corporate or using big words to impress people. We are just neighbors helping neighbors. If someone has a good crop of apples or medicinal plants, we figure out the best way to pack and ship them down the mountain. It takes a lot of physical labor, and everyone pitches in when there is a big load to move. We don't have a marketing budget, so we rely on the quality of what we grow to get noticed by buyers. It is a quiet life, mostly focused on the seasons and the soil. We just want to make sure our village stays productive and that our kids can stay here.
