Bhawarna Farmer Producer Company Limited is located right in Village Suggar. That is under the Bandlateh post office in the Palampur district. If you know the area, you know it’s a beautiful part of the world, but farming here isn’t always easy. We are surrounded by hills and the air is fresh, but the terrain makes everything a bit more physical. Our group is made up of farmers from around the village who wanted to work together instead of struggling on their own. We don't have a big staff or a fancy office in a city. Most of our meetings happen right here in Suggar, often outside where we can see the fields. We talk about the weather, which changes fast in these parts, and how to get our produce down to the bigger markets in Palampur. The village life is slow and we like it that way. We spend our mornings checking on the plants and our afternoons dealing with the small details of running a producer company. It’s mostly just making sure the books match what we have in the stores. We use simple tools and traditional ways mostly, mixed with a bit of new stuff when we can afford it. There’s a lot of walking involved because of the slopes. We are just local folks trying to keep the farming tradition alive in our little corner of Suggar. It takes a lot of patience to work with the earth like this.
