This place at 20/12 on 4th Street in Avadi has been our home and workspace for a long time. It is tucked away in Annai Sathya Nagar, specifically in the Thirumullaivoyal area. You have to take a few turns to find our street, but once you are here, you will see the big vessels outside. We do all the cooking right here at the house. It started with just a few small orders for birthdays in the street. Now we do some larger groups too, like for the local temple festivals. It is mostly just the family working together. My nephew helps with the heavy lifting of the rice bags and the gas cylinders. We don't really have a printed menu card. We just tell people what we can make on that particular day. It is usually the standard South Indian meals, nothing too complicated. The water here is good for cooking, which helps with the taste of the sambar. We spend a lot of time cleaning the greens every morning. It is tedious work but necessary if you want the food to be clean. The kitchen is small but we have organized it so everything is within reach. Sometimes when there is a power cut, we have to use the old hand grinders. It takes forever but the food tastes better that way anyway. We don't do any big advertising in the papers. If someone likes the food, they tell their relatives. That is how we get most of our work through the month.
