Catering

We run our catering business from 4/92-62 Magazine Road in St. Thomas Mount, Chennai. It’s a busy area near the mount. Our kitchen is usually the first thing that starts up in the morning, long before the sun is even up. You can hear the big pots clanging and the smell of onions frying. We don't have a fancy storefront. It’s just a large workspace where we prepare food for events and local gatherings. Magazine Road is always full of traffic, so getting our delivery vans out can be a struggle sometimes. We have a team of cooks who have been with us for years. We don't use recipes from books; most of it is just what we've learned over time. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day in the heat of a Chennai kitchen. We do a lot of rice dishes and traditional meals. Sometimes we get orders for hundreds of people, and those days are a bit chaotic. We just put our heads down and get the cooking done. There’s no big marketing team here. People just know us by word of mouth in the St. Thomas Mount area. We keep our floors scrubbed and our knives sharp. It’s a basic business. We feed people and we make sure the food is hot when it reaches them. That is pretty much all there is to it. We don't need much more than a good stove and fresh ingredients.
