Nihas Chappathis

Our business, Nihas Chappathis, is located in Alandur at Flat No F1, Block 2 of the Aswini Antara building. We are on 5 Morrison 4th Street, just a short distance before you get to the Thillai Ganga Nagar Subway. It is a small operation that we run right from here. We don’t have a big shop window or a sign on the main road. Most of our day is spent in the kitchen, rolling out dough and cooking chappathis one by one. Many people in the Alandur area know us and come over to pick up their packets for dinner. It helps them out when they are too tired to cook after work. We use simple, everyday ingredients and just keep the process going. The kitchen gets pretty warm, especially during the summer months, but we just get on with it. Being so close to the subway is helpful because people can just stop by on their way home from the station. We aren’t trying to grow into some huge company; we just like providing something fresh for the neighborhood. It’s a fairly quiet street, so we can focus on our work without too many distractions. We’ve been doing this for a few years now and have developed a good routine. Everything is done by hand, from mixing the flour to packing the finished chappathis. We just keep things tidy and do our job every single day for our customers.
