Shengyan Pool Bar & Restaurant

Our place is located on the first floor along Maniram Dewan Road in Guwahati. If you know where the Anuradha Theatre is in Bamunimaidan, then you know exactly where we are because we’re right across the street from it. Shengyan Pool Bar & Restaurant is a spot where things are a bit more relaxed than the busy road downstairs. We have the pool tables set up on one side and the restaurant tables right next to them. It’s the 781021 area, and this part of Bamunimaidan gets pretty lively once the sun goes down. The stairs leading up to the first floor can be a bit steep, so you have to watch your step. Once you’re inside, the room is bigger than it looks from the outside. We spend a lot of our time making sure the felt on the pool tables stays clean and the cues aren't broken. The kitchen puts out food while people are busy with their games. It’s rarely a quiet place, especially when a match gets competitive and people start cheering. We’ve seen many regulars come through over the years. Some people just come for a quick meal, while others stay for hours playing pool. The lighting is kept low, which seems to suit the mood we have here. Looking out the window, you can see the crowds at the theater. We just keep the drinks ready and the tables open for whoever walks in.
