MAA Bhagwati Bhojnayalay

MAA Bhagwati Bhojnayalay is found inside the Gareebdasi Dharamshala on Railway Road in Haridwar. We are very close to the Shiv Murti, which is a huge landmark that everyone knows. Haridwar is always full of pilgrims and people looking for a bit of peace near the river. Our bhojnayalay is a humble spot where we serve food to those staying in the dharamshala and anyone else who wanders in from the street. The area around Railway Road is always chaotic with rickshaws and people carrying bags. We also serve the Roorkee area for certain needs, but our main heart is here in Haridwar. The kitchen is old-fashioned and we stick to the traditional ways of cooking. You won't find any trendy dishes here, just the staple meals that have been served in this region for years. The walls of the dharamshala are thick, which keeps the noise of the traffic down a little bit. We start our work very early, often before the sun is up, to make sure there is hot food for the morning travelers. It is a lot of work keeping up with the crowds, especially during the festival seasons when the whole city is packed. We are just regular people making a living by feeding other regular people who are on their spiritual journeys or just passing through the station.
