Gourav Bhojanalaya Restaurant

You can find us on Railway Road in Haridwar, right in front of the railway station. We are in the Sharvan Nath Nagar area. Because we are so close to the station, we see a lot of people coming and going at all hours. People arriving on the trains often come straight to us because they are hungry from their journey. Our restaurant is a simple bhojanalaya. We serve basic North Indian food. We don't have fancy lights or air conditioning. We have big fans on the ceiling that stay on all day to keep the air moving. The floor is made of stone which is good because we have to wash it many times a day. We don't have waiters in uniforms; we just wear our normal clothes while we work. Most people order a thali because it is quick and has a bit of everything on it. The noise from the station and the rickshaws outside is very loud. You can always hear the train whistles and people shouting. We open the doors early in the morning and we don't close until the last major trains have come in at night. It is a lot of hard work and we are on our feet all day long. We don't have a website or any promotional materials. We just stay here and cook for whoever walks through the door. It is a humble place for regular people.
