Sian (The Gateway Hotel)

You can find us at The Gateway Hotel right on Shanmugham Road. We are looking out over Marine Drive in Ernakulam. It’s a pretty famous spot near Penta Menaka. Our focus here at Sian is on Asian food, mostly flavors from China and around there. Even though we are part of a bigger hotel, the kitchen has its own way of doing things. We have a lot of people coming in for business lunches or dinner with their families. The view of the water is the best part of being here. You can see the ships and the boats going by if you sit near the window. We try to keep the atmosphere relaxed even though it can get a bit formal sometimes. The chefs are busy back there making noodles and stir-fry. We don't use a lot of fancy words for our food, we just try to make it taste right. It’s a good place to come if you are tired of the usual local food and want something different. The staff is around to help with the menu if you aren't sure what to order. We’ve been part of the Marine Drive scene for quite a while now. It gets very busy on weekends when everyone is out for a walk by the sea. We just keep the doors open and the pans hot for whoever stops by. It’s just how we do things here every single day.
