Shalimar Residency

Our place is tucked away on Masjid Road, very close to the South Railway Station in Kochi. Because of where we are, we get a lot of people coming in straight from the trains. They’re usually tired and just looking for a room to sleep in for a night or two. We aren't a big luxury hotel with a swimming pool or anything like that. It’s a residency, so we provide the basics—a bed, a fan, and a bathroom. We try to keep everything as tidy as we can, though the salty air from being in Kochi can make things look a bit worn after a while. My family helps run the front desk, and we take turns making sure someone is there even late at night. The neighborhood is busy, with the sounds of the station nearby, but it’s convenient for travelers. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing department. If people find us, it’s usually because they walked over from the station or heard about us from someone else. We just want to offer a decent place to stay without charging too much. It’s a simple building and we do our best to make it feel welcoming in a quiet, normal way. We’ve been here for quite some time now, watching the city grow around the tracks. We just keep things moving and try to help people with their bags as they arrive.
