Oceanos Restaurant

We are tucked inside the Elphinstone Residency on Elphinstone Street in Kochi Fort. This part of Ernakulam has a lot of history, and you can feel it when you walk down the narrow streets around us. The restaurant is a cozy space, maybe a bit cramped when it’s full, but it has a good feel to it. We get a lot of travelers who are exploring the fort area, and they often come in looking for a place to rest their feet. The windows stay open most of the time to let in the breeze, though sometimes the mosquitoes come in with it. We have a small menu because our kitchen isn't very big, so we just stick to what we know how to make. The wooden tables are a bit wobbly, but they do the job. We don't have a host at the front or anything like that; you just walk in and find a seat if there’s one free. Working here is nice because the area is so beautiful, even if it gets very humid in the summer months. We spend a lot of our time prepping vegetables and chatting with the people who stop by. It’s a slow-paced kind of life here in Kochi Fort. We aren't trying to be the most popular place in town, we just want to give people some honest food if they are hungry. We try to keep the fans pointed at the tables so everyone stays cool while they eat.
