Mayyazhi Restaurant

You can find us right opposite the Raja Rajeswary Temple at Palarivattom Junction. It is a very busy corner of town where the traffic never really seems to stop. We have been here for a bit now, watching the cars and bikes go by all day long. The temple across the street brings a lot of people by, especially in the mornings and evenings when there are prayers. Many people stop in after they visit the temple or when they are waiting for a bus at the junction. The floor is just tile and the chairs are simple. We don't have fancy lights or anything like that. It’s mostly just us working in the back and a couple of people out front. When it rains, which happens a lot here in Palarivattom, the place fills up with people trying to stay dry. We just give them a spot to sit. Sometimes it gets a bit loud because we are so close to the main road, but that is just how it is in this part of Kochi. We open up early to get things ready for the day. There is always something to do, like cleaning the tables or checking the supplies. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We are just a local spot for people who happen to be near the junction and need a bite to eat. It feels like a small part of the neighborhood.
