Masala Fort

Masala Fort is tucked away on Princess Street in Kochi Fort. We are right behind the post office, so it’s easy to find if you’re wandering around Ernakulam. The building has that old feel that you get in this part of town. We didn't want to change too much, just enough to make a kitchen and some space for people to eat. Princess Street is always full of tourists and locals, so we see all kinds of faces. It’s a small operation. We do the shopping ourselves every morning to make sure we have what we need for the day. Kochi can be so hot, so we try to keep the place as cool as possible. The kitchen gets really warm, but that’s part of the job. We don’t have a big fancy website or anything like that. We just focus on the food and making sure nobody leaves hungry. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when it’s quiet. It’s a good spot to watch the world go by. We’ve been here for a bit now and the neighbors are all friendly. If you’re visiting the fort area, you might hear us working. It’s a busy little place, nothing too special, just an honest restaurant. We just want to keep things going and serve the community here in Kochi Fort. There is always plenty of cleaning to do at the end of the day, but it is just part of the routine.
