We started Masafi Restaurant here in the Hayath Complex in Vazhakkala a while back. It’s a busy spot in Ernakulam. People come in for lunch mostly. We just cook what we know. It's not fancy, just tables and chairs and good smells from the kitchen. Some days are hectic, especially when the office crowd from around Vazhakkala arrives all at once. We try to keep up. The kitchen is always noisy. We've got regular faces who show up every day. You get to know what someone wants before they even sit down. Sometimes we run out of things if it's too busy, but that's just how it goes. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the plates are full and the tea is hot. The weather in Ernakulam gets so humid, so the fans are always on full blast here. We aren't trying to be the biggest place on the block, just a reliable one. If you're walking past the Hayath Complex, you'll probably see us. It’s a simple setup. We spend a lot of time cleaning up and prepping for the next day. It’s hard work, but it keeps us busy. Not much else to say really, we just open the doors and get to cooking. We like the neighborhood here. It’s got a good feel to it. People are usually in a hurry, so we move fast. We just want to serve a decent meal and go home tired.
