Maria Restaurant

Maria Restaurant is located at Mattamal Junction in Thevara. It’s a small corner of the world here in the 682013 area. The junction is always a bit hectic with people catching buses or moving around the neighborhood. We have a very modest shop that doesn’t look like much from the outside. We’ve been here for a while and we mostly see the local people who live around Thevara. Our day starts before the sun is up, getting the kitchen ready and making sure we have everything we need from the market. It’s a lot of repetitive work, like cutting onions and cleaning the pots, but it has to be done. We don’t have any fancy signs or a big team of people. It’s just us doing the best we can with what we have. The air is often humid because we are close to the water, and the kitchen gets even hotter. People come in, sit on the basic chairs, and eat their food without much fuss. We don't talk much about what we do; we just do it. Some days are busier than others, especially when there’s a lot of movement at the junction. We keep the place open until the evening, then we scrub the floors and get ready to do it all over again the next morning. It’s just a normal, everyday business for normal people in the community who need a place to grab a bite between their daily tasks. We take things as they come and don't worry too much about anything else.
