Malabar Biryani House

Our place, Malabar Biryani House, is in the Oriental Complex on Banerji Road in Ernakulam. We are sitting right opposite the Saritha theater, so it’s a very easy landmark to spot. Banerji Road is always full of cars and people, especially when a movie is about to start or finish. We’ve been here for a while and have seen the complex change over the years. The shop itself is not very large, but we make use of every corner we have. The staff is a small group of people who have worked together for a long time. We don't have a professional manager or a polished front desk. It's just us taking orders and making sure the food is ready. The kitchen is usually the busiest part of the house, and it can get pretty loud with the fans and the stoves going. Sometimes we have to deal with the typical city problems like traffic blocking our entrance or the rain coming in through the front door. We just mop it up and keep going. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks to get people in. Most of our customers are just local folks or people going to the cinema who want a meal. It’s a very basic and honest setup on a busy Ernakulam street. We spend our days mostly thinking about the next batch of rice and meat. That's the life here.
