Lily Grace Restaurant

Our place is down at No.22 on River Road in the Fort area of Ernakulam. We are quite close to the Jingar Boat Jetty, so we get a lot of people coming off the boats looking for a bite. It’s a nice enough spot by the water. We started this restaurant because we liked the area. It’s not a big corporate place with a lot of rules. We just cook what we know and serve it to whoever comes in. The humidity can be a bit much sometimes being so close to the river, but that’s just how it is in Ernakulam. We have a few tables inside and it gets a nice breeze when the doors are wide open. We don't spend money on big ads or social media. Most people just wander in because they’re near the jetty or they live in the neighborhood. We’ve had the same few people working in the kitchen for a long time. They know how things should be done. Sometimes we have a slow afternoon, and other times we can’t find enough chairs for everyone who shows up. We don't try to be something we’re not. It’s just a local restaurant where you can get a meal. We use what we can find at the local markets. It’s a straightforward business. We just want to keep doing what we’re doing for as long as we can. It’s just us here on River Road.
