Kaisra Restaurant

Kaisra is located right on MG Road at Padma Junction, but we are tucked behind A Geeri Pai Jewellers. It’s a funny spot because MG Road is the busiest street in Ernakulam, but being behind the big jewelry shop gives us a little bit of a buffer from the direct noise of the traffic. You still hear the horns and the metro overhead, though. We’ve been serving food here for some time now. The restaurant is usually full of people who are out shopping or working in the nearby buildings. It gets really busy during the lunch hour when everyone is looking for a quick bite. We don't have any fancy decorations; the walls are plain and the tables are sturdy. Most of the work happens in the kitchen where it’s loud and hot. We focus on getting the orders right and making sure nobody has to wait too long. Padma Junction is a landmark in itself, so people usually find us eventually. We spend a lot of time cleaning up and prepping for the next day. It’s a simple business, really. We just show up, cook the food, and serve the people who walk through the door. It’s been our routine for years, and we just keep going with it, through the monsoon rains and the heatwaves. It’s just how things are on MG Road.
