Janatha Cafe

We are Janatha Cafe, located at 34/1570 on Market Road in Edapally, Ernakulam. We are situated right near the Edapally Market, which is a very active and loud place most of the day. Our cafe isn't anything grand. It’s just a small corner spot with a few tables and a counter where we serve tea, coffee, and some simple snacks. Being so close to the market means our days start very early. We are usually here before the sun is fully up, getting things ready for the vendors and the early morning shoppers. The building is old and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we’re too busy to think about that most of the time. We have a small staff of local people who help with the serving and the cleaning. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when the market is in full swing and the rain starts coming down. Ernakulam gets a lot of rain, so we often have people crowded inside waiting for it to stop. We don't have a big mission statement or any fancy goals. We just try to make sure there’s always hot tea ready and a place for people to take a quick break. Most of our customers are people we see every day, and we know their usual orders without them even having to ask. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us going in the middle of the market.
