We are tucked away in Mattoor, right here in Kalady. The walk from the main road to the gate is a bit long, especially when it’s raining, but you get used to it. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we know all the local spots for a quick tea. It’s an engineering place, so you’ll see plenty of students carrying those big drawing boards and looking a bit tired. The buildings are solid, though some corners could probably use a bit of paint. We don’t really go for anything too flashy. It’s just about getting the classes done and making sure the labs are open when they need to be. During the monsoon, the whole place smells like damp earth and old books. We have a canteen that serves decent snacks, nothing fancy, but it fills you up. Sometimes the power cuts out and we all just wait for the generator to kick in with a loud groan. It’s just how things go around here in Alwaye. We’ve seen many kids come in as teenagers and leave as grown adults. It makes you feel old, but it’s good to see. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The campus has some nice trees that give a bit of shade when the sun is beating down hard. It’s a quiet life mostly. We are just part of Sankar Nagar, doing our bit.
