Tula's Institute - The Engineering and Management College is situated out in Dhoolkot, near Selaqui in Dehradun. It is quite a way from the main city, right on Chakrata Road. The campus is spread out and you can see the hills in the distance when the weather is clear. It’s a place for engineering and management students, so there are always young people walking around with backpacks and laptops. The buildings are large and concrete, and the labs are filled with different kinds of machines and computers. It is not as quiet as you would expect for a place in the foothills because there is always some construction or event happening. The walk from the main road to the college buildings can be a bit long, especially in the rain. We have a canteen where everyone hangs out between classes, and that’s usually where most of the gossip happens. The weather in Dehradun changes fast, so one minute it’s sunny and the next we are all running for cover. The staff offices are usually cluttered with project reports and attendance sheets. It’s a busy college environment where things are always moving. Students live in the hostels nearby, so the area around Dhoolkot stays active even after classes are over. It’s just a regular campus where people are trying to get their degrees and find their way.
