Amar Jyoti Vaishnav Bhojnalaya

I work here at Amar Jyoti Vaishnav Bhojnalaya. We are on Railway Road in Rishikesh, right near the State Bank of Indian building in Sheel Sadan. It's a busy spot most days. People come in after getting off the train or before they head out on their travels. We’ve been here for a while now. The kitchen keeps us busy from the early morning until quite late at night. It's just a simple place to sit down and have a meal. We don't have any fancy decorations or expensive furniture. It's mostly locals who live nearby and some travelers who stumble upon us while they are walking down the main street. The food is what you'd expect to eat in a normal home, nothing too spicy or oily. We just cook and serve. Sometimes it gets really crowded and loud in here, but that’s just how things are on Railway Road. My uncle started this place because he liked feeding people and it stayed in the family. Now we all help out with the cleaning and the cooking. We try to keep things as clean as possible. If you are looking for Sheel Sadan, we are right there, you can't miss us. Rishikesh is a holy place, so we keep everything strictly vegetarian. It's funny how many people stop by just to ask for directions and then end up staying for a plate of food. We don't do any advertising. Just people telling each other about us. The weather here is nice and we just keep the stove going.
