The suggar box

Up here in Dehradun, things move a bit slower than in the big cities, which is nice. The suggar box is located on Ballupur Road, not too far from Krishna chowk in Dehradun City. It’s a decent area with plenty of people moving about during the day. We’ve been here for a while now, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a bit. The road outside gets some puddles when it rains, which happens quite a lot in Dehradun - 248001, so we are always mopping the floor to keep the mud out. Our place is simple. We have some counters and a few spots for people to stand or sit. It isn't a corporate setup at all; we did most of the decorating ourselves with whatever we could find. Sometimes the lights flicker when the weather is bad, but that’s just part of living in this part of town. We spend our mornings getting everything ready and checking our supplies. We don't use any fancy words to describe what we do. We just open the doors and wait for the locals to come by. A lot of the school kids walk past here in the afternoon, and it gets a bit noisy for an hour or so. We like being near Krishna chowk because it feels like the heart of this little area. We just try to keep things steady and make sure everyone who walks through the door feels okay while they are here.
