The Pyramid Cafe

Our cafe is on the main street in Rishikesh, right across from the post office. It’s in the 249202 area for those who need to find it on a map. The place is a bit different because of the pyramid shape, which people seem to notice when they walk by. We have a lot of plants around and some outdoor seating. It’s usually quiet here, except for the sound of traffic from the main road. We see a lot of people who are visiting Rishikesh for the temples or the river. They come in to sit for a while and have something to drink. We don't have a big menu. It's just some basic snacks and drinks that we can manage easily in our small kitchen area. The kitchen is tiny, so if there are many people at once, it takes a bit of time for the food to come out. We don't have fancy uniforms; we just wear what’s comfortable for working in the heat. The roof sometimes leaks a little when it rains really hard during the monsoon season, but we just put buckets out and keep going. We have some old books on a shelf that people can read if they want to pass the time. It’s not a polished corporate cafe like you find in big cities. It’s just a spot we built because we liked the area. We do all the cleaning ourselves and try to keep the garden looking okay. It’s a peaceful place to sit most of the time. We try to keep the tea hot and the water cold.
