The Punjabi Essence Restaurant

We are located at 27-B on Rajpur Road, right opposite St. Joseph’s School. It’s a good spot because of all the activity from the school and the nearby shops. Our place is called The Punjabi Essence, and we focus on the kind of food we grew up with at home. The kitchen is the heart of the place. It gets really hot in there, especially when the tandoor is running full blast. We have wooden tables and chairs that have seen some wear over the years. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the one out front. People usually come in after work or when they are picking up their kids from school in the afternoon. The menu is printed on simple paper. We spend a lot of time prepping the dal and the masalas every single morning in Dehradun. Sometimes we run out of fresh paneer by the evening if it’s been an unusually busy day. The staff is just a few local guys who know the regulars by name. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks or online ads. We just cook the food and serve it. Sometimes the music is a bit loud, but we turn it down if someone asks us to. It’s a small space, so it can get a bit cramped during the dinner time rush. We just try to keep everyone fed and happy. It’s a plain and simple restaurant for regular folks. The 248001 area gets pretty busy, but we just keep doing our thing.
