If you’re walking down Haridwar Road in Dehradun, you’ll find Spice Indian Corner at number 31. We are right in the Araghar area, quite close to Laxmi Narayan Mandir. People usually use the temple as a landmark to find us. Living in Dehradun is nice because the weather is usually okay, but the traffic on Haridwar Road can get a bit loud during the day. Our place isn't very big. We have a few tables and some chairs that have seen better days, but they do the job. My brother and I run the front, and we have two guys in the back who handle the stove. It gets really hot back there, especially in the summers. We don't really have a fancy philosophy about food. We just buy what's fresh at the local mandi and cook it the way we know how. A lot of students from the nearby hostels come here because we keep the prices decent. It feels good when someone says the food tasted like home, though we don't always get it perfect. Sometimes the tea is too sweet or the wait is a bit long when the office crowd hits at 1:30. We just try to keep things moving. We’ve been here in Araghar for a few years now and most of the shopkeepers on this block are our friends. It's a simple life, just running a small eatery on a busy road.
