My Shop Restaurant

Up in Mussoorie, you can find My Shop Restaurant right on Mall Road in the Kulri area. We are located near the old Picture Palace, which is a landmark everyone knows around here. The air is always a bit cooler up on the hill, and sometimes the mist comes right in through the door if we leave it open. The shop is a bit of a mix of things, hence the name. We have some shelves with various items and then the tables where people sit down to eat. It isn't a very large space, so when it gets crowded, people are practically sitting on top of each other. We use a lot of local ingredients because it’s easier than getting stuff brought up from the plains all the time. The floor is made of old stone and it’s a bit uneven in places, so you have to watch your step. We spend our mornings setting out the chairs and getting the water boiling for tea. Tourists come in with their heavy coats and cameras, looking for a place to sit for a while. We don't have any slick marketing or anything. We just put a chalkboard outside with a couple of things written on it. It’s a lot of work running a place on Mall Road because the taxes are high and the tourists can be picky, but we just take it one day at a time.
