Laxmi Ice Cream

If you go down Chakkarai Chetty Street in Kondithope, you will find us at number 28/36. We are really close to Amman Kovil Street, so we get a lot of people walking over after they visit the temple. The street is quite narrow and can get crowded with carts and scooters, especially in the evenings. Laxmi Ice Cream is just a small place, nothing like those big shops in the malls. We have a few freezers lined up and a small desk where we handle the cash. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven't had the time to get around to it yet. Most of the kids from the neighborhood come here after school with their coins. It gets loud when they all show up at once, but it’s fine. We spend most of our mornings just checking the inventory and wiping down the glass tops. The heat in this part of the city is no joke, so the machines are working hard all the time. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to stand in the cool air for a minute while they talk about the weather or the local news. We don't do anything special, just keep the cabinets full and the lights on. It’s a decent living and we like being near the temple because there is always something happening outside the door. We usually keep the doors open until about nine at night before we call it a day.
