Shirazs Orchid

Shirazs Orchid is located inside the Hotel Shiraz Regency on Queens Road in Amritsar. It is a pretty well-known spot around here since Queens Road is one of those main streets everyone ends up on at some point. Being part of a hotel means we see a lot of different people coming through the doors. Some are staying in the rooms upstairs and just want a meal without going back out into the traffic. Others are locals from around Amritsar who have been coming here for years. The vibe is quiet most of the time compared to the noise outside. We serve a mix of things, mostly Indian food because that is what people expect when they are in Punjab. We have been doing this for a long time now. The staff knows most of the regulars by name. It is not one of those new trendy places with strange lights; it is more traditional and straightforward. We open up for breakfast early because of the hotel guests and keep going until late at night. Sometimes the lobby gets crowded when there is a check-in, but the restaurant area usually stays pretty steady. We have big windows that look out, though there is not much to see except the street life. It is just a regular place to eat where we try to keep the food consistent and the tables clean. We don't do much marketing, we just keep the doors open and the kitchen running.
