Punjab Dhaba

We have been set up here at Goal Hatti Chownk in the middle of Hall Bazar for a long time now. If you look across the street, you will see the Yes Bank, which is usually where people park their scooters before walking over to us. The area is always crowded with people buying clothes or household items, and the noise of the traffic never really stops until late at night. Inside our place, it is pretty simple. We have old ceiling fans that hum loudly and wooden tables that have seen better days. The walls are painted a plain color and we don't bother much with decorations because people are mostly here to eat and get back to their work. In the mornings, we start by scrubbing the floors and getting the big pots of tea ready. You can smell the wood smoke from the back kitchen where the tandoor is heating up. It gets quite hot in here during the summer months, but nobody seems to mind too much as long as the food is ready on time. We see a lot of local shopkeepers who come in for a quick break and some travelers who got lost looking for the main market. It is a basic setup with metal tumblers and heavy plates. We do our own shopping for vegetables every morning from the local mandi to make sure everything is okay. It is just a regular Amritsar spot where things move fast.
