New Punjabi Rasoi Restaurant

New Punjabi Rasoi Restaurant is situated on Mukherjee Marg in Amritsar. We are very close to Jalliawalan Bagh, so a lot of tourists walk past our place every single day. The 143001 area is full of history and narrow streets. It gets very busy around here, especially in the afternoons when the tour buses arrive. Our restaurant is small but we try to fit as many people as we can. The kitchen is right near the entrance so you can smell everything we are cooking as soon as you step inside. It’s a lot of steam and heat. We have some old pictures of the city on the walls but mostly it’s just plain. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because we’d rather just keep the place running. The chairs are plastic and the tables have simple covers. We get people from all over the world because of where we are located. Sometimes it’s hard to understand everyone, but we manage. My father started this place and now we just keep it going. Amritsar is a special city, but for us, it’s just where we work every day. We sweep the floor, wash the dishes, and wait for the next group of people to come in. It is a simple life and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. Mukherjee Marg is always a bit chaotic but that is just part of being in Amritsar. We wouldn't know what to do if it was quiet and the streets were empty.
