MONU KULCHA HUT

We've been at Rani ka bagh for a while now. Monu Kulcha Hut is just a small place near Jagat Jyoti School. It's busy here most mornings because people want their breakfast before work. We have the tandoor going early. There isn't much space to sit, just a few spots at Shop no 6, but people don't seem to mind standing and eating. We make the dough every day and the potatoes are peeled right here in the back. It gets hot inside when the ovens are on full blast. If you walk past the school, you can usually smell the butter and the charred bread. It’s nothing fancy, just a regular shop. We use a lot of butter, that's just how it is in Amritsar. My family helps out when it gets crowded around noon. Sometimes we run out of chole early if the weekend crowd is big. We try to keep things clean but it's a tight squeeze in the kitchen area. People come here because they know what they are getting. We don't have a big menu or anything like that. Just the usual stuff people like to eat. If you are looking for us, look for the sign near the school gate. It's been a long time since we started and the neighborhood has changed a lot, but we are still here in the same spot at Rani Ka Bagh. We hope to stay here for a lot longer.
