Matthews Restaurant And Catering

Up here in Aizawl, specifically in Chandmari, things move at their own pace. We are located at Chaltlang Dawrkawn in the Bethel Veng area. It is a nice spot where you can see the hills if the weather is clear. We do two things here: we have the restaurant and we also do catering for local events. Catering is a lot of heavy lifting. We have to pack big containers of food and drive them across these winding roads. Sometimes the rain makes it difficult to get anywhere on time. In the restaurant, it is a bit more relaxed. We have locals from Bethel Veng coming in for their meals. We do not use any complicated recipes. It is just the kind of food we grew up eating. The kitchen is always noisy with the sound of knives and pots. We do not have a big staff, just family and a couple of helpers. We spend a lot of time cleaning the greens and making sure the meat is fresh. It is a basic setup with wooden tables. People know us in the neighborhood, so we do not need to do much talking. We just make sure there is enough food for whoever walks in. It is a lot of work to keep both the catering and the restaurant going, but we manage. We are just a local family business doing our best every day.
