Hathipole is a busy place to have a shop, but Kiran Watch Service has been tucked away here for years. You have to look closely to find us among all the other stalls and stores. I like being in this part of town because there is always something to see. I spend most of my day hunched over a desk. My back aches a bit by the evening, but that’s the nature of the work. People bring in watches that have stopped for all sorts of reasons. Some dropped them in water, others just wore them out. I try to be honest about whether it’s worth fixing or not. Hathipole has that old feeling, and my shop fits right in. I still use some tools that are older than I am. They just made them better back then. I don't have a computer to track the repairs. I just write a little note and keep it with the watch in a small plastic bin. It’s worked fine for a long time. The street noise is quite loud, especially with the tourists and the locals all mixing together, but once I put my loupe on, I sort of tune it all out. It’s just me and the ticking. If you’re coming by, it’s best to walk. Parking a car near Hathipole is almost impossible on most days. I usually eat my lunch right here at the bench so I don't miss anyone.
