Basant Watch Company

I’ve been sitting at this same desk at Sarang Marg for more years than I care to count, honestly. Basant Watch Company is just a small place here in Surajpole, nothing too fancy to look at from the street. You walk in and you’ll see some old glass cases that have probably been here since the start. There is always a pile of straps and some tools scattered around because things are always moving. Sometimes the light in here isn't the greatest, especially when the sun starts going down over the buildings, so I have to use a lamp to see those tiny gears. It gets noisy outside with the traffic, but once you step inside, the ticking of the wall clocks sort of takes over. I don't really do much advertising or anything like that. People just know where we are. Usually, it's just someone needing a new battery or a pin that fell out of their band. I spend a lot of time cleaning out dust from old watches that haven't been opened in a decade. It’s quiet work, mostly. My hands get a bit dirty from the grease, but that’s just how it goes when you’re working with metal all day. We keep the door open most of the time to let a bit of a breeze in from the street, though it mostly just brings in more dust to wipe off the counters every morning before we start. It's just a regular shop.
