You can find us over at Ziniret Ka Chowk, which is just inside the Surajpole area. Ashirwad Watch is one of those places you might walk right past if you aren't looking for it. It’s a small storefront, and we’ve got a lot of watches hung up on the walls behind the counter. Some of them are new, but a lot of them are just pieces we’ve worked on over the years. The chowk is always full of activity, especially in the mornings when the market is waking up. I usually get here early to open the shutters and get the dust off the counters. Working inside Surajpole means you’re right in the heart of things. I have this one old wooden stool that has been in the shop since the day it opened, and that’s where I sit to do all the delicate work. Sometimes my eyes get a bit tired from staring at the tiny movements inside a mechanical watch, so I’ll take a break and walk out to the chowk for a cup of tea. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. We just have a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit and a lot of tools that have seen better days. But they still work just fine for what we need to do here. We just focus on getting things ticking again for anyone who stops by the chowk.
