Roopsi Exports is over at 123-C in Sainik Farms. Unlike some of the more crowded industrial areas, Sainik Farms is a bit more residential and quiet. Our place is a bit of a mix between an office and a storage space. We have rooms filled with samples of what we export. Most of the work involves checking these samples for any mistakes before they get sent out. We spend a lot of time sitting at our computers answering emails from people in different time zones. Because of that, some of us are here quite late or arrive very early. The office is comfortable enough, but it’s definitely a working space, not a lounge. There are racks of clothes or products depending on the season. We have a small kitchen area where we make tea and eat our lunch together. Sometimes the power goes out, which is just part of living and working in this area, so we have a backup generator that makes a lot of noise. We don’t have a big sign outside or anything. Most people wouldn’t even know what we do just by looking at the building. We just focus on the details of the orders and making sure everything is packed correctly. It’s a steady pace of work. We’ve been at this address for a long time and the routine stays pretty much the same.
