A.S. Dyeing & Printing Works

You can find A.S. Dyeing & Printing Works over at E-212 in Lajpat Nagar Part-I. This place always smells a bit like ink and chemicals, but you get used to it after five minutes of being inside. We do a lot of the actual hands-on work here. It’s not a clean, quiet office. There are machines running and people moving fabrics around all day. Lajpat Nagar is a busy area, so there’s always a bit of chaos outside on the street. We handle a lot of different orders, some big and some just small batches for local folks. Sometimes the colors don't come out exactly right on the first try and we have to start over. It’s frustrating but that’s how dyeing works. The floor is usually covered in some kind of scrap material or bits of tape. We’ve been here quite a while now. Our equipment isn't brand new, but it works fine for what we need. We spend a lot of time checking the prints to make sure the lines are sharp enough. It’s physically tiring work, standing on your feet for most of the shift. When the sun goes down, we usually stay to finish off the last few rolls of cloth. It’s a simple setup. We take the orders, do the printing, and get them shipped out. Nothing fancy about it. We’re just a bunch of people working with textiles in a crowded neighborhood. The light in the back room is a bit dim but we manage fine. We just keep the machines going.
