The Westend Restaurant

The Westend Restaurant is part of Hotel Himland West. We are located on Circular Road in the Shimla East area. Being in Shimla means we deal with a lot of cold weather and hilly roads. The restaurant has been here for a long time, and you can tell by the way the floorboards sound when you walk across the room. We have a view of the hills, but some days the fog is so thick you can’t see anything. We aren't a modern, high-tech kitchen. We use old recipes and simple cooking methods. Our staff stays busy with the hotel guests who come in for breakfast and dinner. We don't have fancy uniforms or a corporate training program. Most of us just learned on the job. It gets very quiet in the late evenings when the mist rolls in. Sometimes we have trouble getting fresh supplies when the roads are blocked or the weather is bad. We just work with what we have. The dining room has a lot of wood and older furniture. It feels a bit like stepping back in time. We don't have a website or a social media page. We just focus on keeping the kitchen warm and the food ready for whoever walks through the door.
