The Restaurant (The Oberoi Cecil)

Our place, The Restaurant, is located inside The Oberoi Cecil over on Chaura Maidan in Shimla. The zip code is 171004. Being up here in the mountains, things have a certain way of working. The building itself has been around for ages, and we’re just the ones looking after it right now. It is a bit of a walk to get to this part of Chaura Maidan, but people seem to find us well enough. We don't spend much time on fancy speeches. Mostly, we are just busy making sure the tables are set and the floor is swept. Shimla gets quite busy during the tourist seasons, and we definitely feel that. The rest of the year, it’s a bit quieter and we just keep things ticking along. It's an old spot with a lot of history, but to us, it’s just where we work every day. The walk up Chaura Maidan is something we do every day. It's a quiet part of Shimla most of the time, and we like it that way because it makes the work easier to manage. We see people from all over who are visiting the hills. The staff tries to be helpful, though we’re all just regular folks. Sometimes the mountain fog rolls in and you can’t see much out the windows, but the kitchen keeps running regardless. It’s a practical setup in a very old part of town. We just provide a place to sit and eat.
