Tara Bhojnalaya

If you are walking near the AG Office in Shimla, you will probably see our sign. Being up here in the hills means things are a bit different than the plains. It gets cold, especially in the winter months, so we keep the kitchen busy to stay warm. People come in looking for something hot to eat that reminds them of home. We aren't doing anything too complicated here at Tara Bhojnalaya. It’s just simple food served on simple plates. The space isn't huge, so when it’s lunch time, it can get a bit crowded and loud. You might have to share a table if it’s a busy day, but nobody seems to mind that much. We’ve been at this address for a long time and the locals know us well. We get a lot of office workers who just want a quick break before going back to their desks. The tea is always brewing on the side. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the rice and dal are ready. Sometimes we run out of things early if it's a particularly busy afternoon. We just do our best to keep things grounded and fresh for the people who stop by. Shimla is a beautiful place, but for us, it’s mostly about the daily routine of chopping vegetables and serving the people who live and work around here.
