Tewari Brothers has its spot on Bhuyangdev Cross Road 3 in Girgaon. It’s a traditional kind of place. We’ve been here for years, watching the street change. The shop is filled with the smell of sweets and snacks being prepared. We have these large iron pans that have seen a lot of use. Making sweets is a slow process. You can’t rush it. Someone is always stirring a pot or weighing out ingredients. It’s a lot of manual labor. Our counters are usually full of different trays. We don't use fancy packaging unless someone asks for a gift box. Usually, it's just brown paper or simple boxes. The floor is stone and shows its age. We like it that way. It has character. People from all over Girgaon come by, especially during festivals. Those days are very long for us. We start way before dawn. The shop gets crowded and everyone is talking at once. It’s a bit chaotic but we manage. We don’t have a marketing team or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that people know where we are. We’re just a local business trying to do things the way they’ve always been done. It’s not about being modern. It’s about sticking to what we know. The work is hard but it is what we do best. We just keep going and hope the rain stays away.
