Maharashtra Store

You can find us at Shop No 33 inside the Digvijay Mill Compound on Dr B A Road. Lal Baug is always crowded and we are right in the middle of that. The store is packed with all sorts of things people need for their homes. We try to keep the shelves stocked but sometimes things get misplaced in the rush. It is a bit of an old building but it has character. We open up quite early because the morning crowd is usually the busiest. My family has been around this area for generations so we know most faces that walk in. It’s not like those big supermarkets where nobody talks to you. Here, we have a chat while we weigh things out or look for a specific item. The floor is a bit uneven and the paint is peeling in some spots. We don't mind it much. There is always a lot of noise from the street outside with the buses and taxis. We have stuff piled up high so you have to be careful when walking through the aisles. It is a busy life running a shop here. We get our deliveries in the afternoon and that's when things get really tight in the small space. We just keep going one day at a time. Maharashtra Store has been part of the compound for years and we just do our daily work here for the community.
