I guess we’ve been at Citi Walk House in Cusrow Baug for quite a while now. Most mornings start with dusting the shelves because the street dust just gets everywhere, no matter how much you clean. It’s a small place, 24/A, tucked away where you’d almost miss it if you aren't looking. We have heaps of bedsheets and those heavy quilts from back home in Rajasthan. Some are stacked so high they almost touch the ceiling fans. It gets cramped when more than three people walk in at once, but that’s just how it is here. My uncle used to run things before I took over the keys. We don't have fancy lights or anything, just those old tube lights that flicker a bit when you first turn them on in the morning. People from the Baug stop by mostly to chat or look at the new prints we got on the bus from the village last week. Sometimes the tea guy from down the road forgets our order, and we have to shout out the window to get his attention. It's noisy outside with the traffic, but inside it smells like cotton and old wood. We don’t really do fancy ads. If you need a good rajai or some block-print fabric, you just find us behind the main gate. The floor is a bit chipped near the counter, but it’s been that way for ten years and nobody seems to mind much.
