Praneel Creations is tucked away inside Mayurish Radha Mohan Society. It’s not on a main road, so it’s usually pretty quiet around here in Mahim. Being in Basetty Pet means we are surrounded by houses and families rather than big shops. We work out of this space every day, surrounded by thread, needles, and piles of cloth. The lighting isn't always the best, but we make do with a couple of extra lamps on the tables. It feels more like a workshop than a store. You might hear someone’s TV through the wall or kids playing outside in the society courtyard. That’s just how it is when you’re based in a residential area. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us doing the stitching and the patterns. Sometimes the bobbins run out at the worst time, or the scissors need sharpening, and we have to run out to find a guy who does that. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing on the details. We don’t have a fancy lobby for people to wait in. Usually, folks just pull up a plastic chair if they need to stay a minute. We keep track of everything in a thick paper notebook with a pen that usually leaks a bit. It’s an honest way to spend the day. We finish one job and move on to the next. The work keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down.
