Komal Goods Exports Pvt Ltd is based over in Fort, which is a part of town that always feels like it’s in a hurry. Our office is in K.K. Chambers, specifically on the third floor. You have to walk down P.T. Marg to get to us, and that street is always packed with people heading to their own jobs. The building itself has that old Mumbai character, with high ceilings and those heavy doors that have been painted over a dozen times. Since we are on the third floor, we get a little bit of a breeze if the windows are open, which is nice during the humid months. We don't really do much in the way of decorating. There are some maps on the walls and plenty of filing cabinets. The floor is a bit worn in places where we move the chairs around too much. Working in the export business means there’s always a lot of back and forth on the phones and the computers. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for news on shipments or handle the customs paperwork. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. Fort is a good place to be for this kind of work, even if the traffic is a nightmare most afternoons. We just keep our heads down and get through the pile of work on our desks.
